Prayer and Lamp Lighting Ceremony
The pure light of the Purple Palace illuminates the ancient temple, and the wisdom of the altar shines upon the mortal world. Because the temples and palaces of the sacred mountain are all ancient and precious structures, and we fear that open flames might disturb their tranquility and damage their treasures, we have specially installed spiritual lamps to carry on the Taoist lineage with profound technology and to continue our devout hearts with their pure light.
Though this lamp burns without firewood, it contains primordial energy and connects with the spirits of the three realms: First, it illuminates the mountain gate, protecting the monastery's peace and safety, warding off evil and bringing good fortune; second, it shines before the gods, praying for the ancestral masters' compassion and blessings upon the faithful; third, it illuminates the worldly heart, guiding the lost to enlightenment, ensuring the lamp of wisdom burns eternally. Each lamp's flowing light, like the radiant stars, illuminates the halls with auspiciousness; each point of clear radiance, like the misty energy of the Tao, envelops enduring good thoughts.
Devotees burn incense, bow their heads, and light lamps to pray. Without the disturbance of open flames, they can still connect with the divine. May this sacred lamp, carrying the benevolence of the Great Way and the wishes of all beings, reach the heavens above and bring peace to the common people below. May ancient buildings stand forever, may the Way prosper eternally, may all devotees in the ten directions attain health and well-being, and may all living beings bathe in tranquility.
